Privacy Policy

In short

No account and no sign-up. Your scans, photos and collection are stored on your device.
When you identify a wood, and only after you agree, the photo is sent through our server to our AI provider, Anthropic, to identify the species. It is not used to train AI.
We don’t sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps or websites.
You can delete your data anytime in Settings → Delete my data, or by deleting the app.

1. Who we are

Grainwise (“the app”) is published by Vantix Media LLC, a company registered in Wyoming, USA (“we”, “us”). For any privacy question or request, contact us at support@getgrainwise.com.

2. What we process and why

We do not ask for your name, email or phone number to use the app. If you email us, we use your email only to answer you.

3. Service providers

We share data only with providers that help us run the app, under their own privacy and security terms:

Anthropic (AI model Claude) – analyzes the photo to identify the wood. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic does not use this data to train its models; it may keep it for a limited time for safety and legal purposes.
Cloudflare – hosts our server and website and stores the fair-use counters.
RevenueCat – manages subscriptions and purchase restores.
Apple and Google – process payments and app distribution under their own privacy policies.

We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.

4. Your permission

The app asks for your explicit permission before sending any photo to the AI service. You can turn this off anytime in Settings → AI & your photos; identification then stops working until you allow it again. The app also asks the system permission to use the camera and, when you pick a photo, your photo library.

5. How long we keep data

Photos: not stored on our server; kept by Anthropic only as described in section 3.
Fair-use counters: deleted automatically after at most 9 days.
On-device data: until you delete it (Settings → Delete my data) or delete the app.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or privacy laws in the United States), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal data, and to complain to your data protection authority. Because we don’t have accounts and keep almost no data on our servers, most of your data is under your control on your device. For any request, email support@getgrainwise.com; we answer within 30 days.

Where the law requires a legal basis, we process data to provide the service you request (contract), with your consent (photo analysis by AI), and for our legitimate interests in security and preventing abuse.

7. International transfers

Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, they use safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

8. Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Our AI provider key is kept on our server and never in the app. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data.

9. Children

Grainwise is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. We will change the effective date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
