Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Grainwise app and website, provided by Vantix Media LLC, a company registered in Wyoming, USA (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using Grainwise, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.

1. The service

Grainwise estimates the species of wood shown in a photo and gives general information about that wood. You must be at least 13 years old to use it. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these Terms and to any purchase.

2. AI results are estimates

Identifications are produced by an artificial-intelligence model and can be wrong. Results, confidence levels, wood properties (such as hardness, durability or outdoor suitability) and tips are general information, not professional advice. Confirm with a qualified professional before relying on a result for buying, selling, valuing, structural or load-bearing use, food contact, or anything that affects health or safety. You use the results at your own risk.

3. Free use and Pro subscription

• Free: a limited number of scans and collection saves, as shown in the app.
• Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, offered weekly or yearly. The price, billing period and any free trial are shown in the app before you buy and may vary by country.
• Free trial: if a plan includes a free trial, you are charged at the end of the trial unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. On some platforms, cancelling during a trial may end access immediately.
• Billing and renewal: payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google account. The subscription renews automatically at the same price and period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Cancelling: manage or cancel anytime in your App Store or Google Play account settings, or from the app (Settings → Manage subscription). You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.
• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies.
• Restore: use “Restore purchases” to recover an active subscription on a new device with the same store account. Purchases don’t transfer between iOS and Android.

4. Fair use

To keep the service fast and affordable for everyone, scans are subject to fair-use limits, currently up to 15 scans per day and 50 per week per device for all users, including Pro. We may temporarily limit or pause identification to prevent abuse or protect the service.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse Grainwise, including by: sending illegal, harmful or other people’s private content; trying to access our servers or AI provider other than through the app; automating requests or circumventing limits; reverse engineering the app except where the law allows; or reselling the service.

6. Your content

You keep the rights to your photos. You give us permission to process them, and to send them to our AI provider, only to provide the identification you request. See our Privacy Policy.

7. Our content

The app, its design, text, illustrations, wood information and brand are owned by Vantix Media LLC or its licensors. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for your own non-commercial purposes under these Terms.

8. App stores

If you downloaded Grainwise from the Apple App Store, the Apple Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies (apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula). Apple and Google are not responsible for the app or its content and have no obligation to provide support for it.

9. Changes to the service

We may change, add or remove features, species or limits, or discontinue the service. If we discontinue Pro, you can cancel through your store account.

10. Disclaimers

Grainwise is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. We don’t guarantee that results are accurate or that the service is uninterrupted or error-free.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Vantix Media LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for losses resulting from reliance on identification results. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Grainwise in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you; nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be waived.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the consumer law of your country of residence gives you mandatory rights.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will change the effective date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app. Continuing to use Grainwise after a change means you accept the new Terms.
